Light in the Darkness

This past week my daughter Steph and I had the opportunity to go to Lake Powell one more time to finish up the cloth Roman shades and draperies on our friend’s houseboat.

Life is always more fun when you’re working with family and friends.  While on a nighttime walk to the marina, we heard others talking about the Northern Lights being visible. We immediately began scanning the night sky, but couldn’t see anything.  We also heard, that sometimes you can’t see them with the naked eye, but if you take a picture with your cell phone, the lights will show up in the picture you take from your phone.

We immediately began taking random pictures on our phones, which illuminated the beauty that was previously not within the capability of our earthly eyes to see.

Through the lens of our cameras, we soon discovered the right direction we needed to point to, and were able to get some breathtaking shots of the hidden beauty . . . all created by LIGHT!

This made me think about life.  Sometimes in the darkness, it’s difficult to see the LIGHT with our limited sight of Heavenly things.

However, through the clear camera lens of our loving Savior, and Heavenly Father, all things become clear and the LIGHT illuminates the beauty that was always there, just not visible to the mortal eye.

Not only was I able to cross this phenomenon off my bucket list of things to see and do, I was able to see LIGHT in the midst of the darkest night!  The beauty God has created for us on this earth is mind boggling!  This morning we woke up to a steady rain shower.  With our project completed, we packed up, and walked to the marina one more time before we left.

As we walked back to the boat, the rain ceased, and we witnessed the most vibrant double rainbow!  Yet another gift from God related to LIGHT!  He blesses us with these small glimpses of Heaven, as he sends LIGHT in many different ways.  This picture doesn’t do it justice.

Sometimes we need to experience things in person to appreciate the full effect of the beauty before us.  What a blessing it was to experience the Northern Lights and a full double rainbow all in the space a few days, in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.  He spent a little extra time when He created the rugged red rock beauties of Lake Powell!

As turmoil continues to swirl around us, never give up hope that we are always surrounded by His LIGHT and His Love.  Even if you can’t see it, it is always there!  This week, try to look for LIGHT in the midst of darkness.

We have the ability to make our own LIGHT to share with those whose Light is dim.  Have a great week!

Love Ya, Les :)
