Grandma Camp 2021 – Part Two

I’m happy to report the second day of Grandma Camp 2021 was much smoother than day one!  After a quiet restful night, everyone woke up happy, refreshed, and ready for the day. We started with our traditional breakfast of signature Grandpa Ronnie waffles (his secret ingredient is Bisquick and a tsp. of vanilla), vanilla ice cream, and my homemade strawberry freezer jam. This is such a fun yummy breakfast!

After we all got dressed and ready for the day, we worked on our last and final craft.  I bought paper maché letters and the girls painted them, and then bedazzled them with gems and plastic butterflies.  I love how each one turned out totally different, and shows individual personalities!

Grandpa Ronnie went to three different places to get lunch and bring it back.  We settled in for another movie, and as the day began to wind down, then finished with an easy bracelet kit from “Natural Life”.  I LOVE their products, the focus of gratitude, positivity, and choosing to be happy is refreshing in today’s world.  Everyone was sad to see it end, but that’s always a good sign right?  I would rather they be sad to have it over, than anxious to leave and go home.

What did I learn this year?  Plans don’t always work out how you hope they will, and that’s ok.  It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you are engaged in wholesome activities together, you will make good memories.  Sometimes, all the extra work and effort to make something spectacular, could be accomplished just the same with something easier that you know is tried and true – hence the trip to Alpine for the custom macrons, sparkler hearts, and homemade peach ice cream.  The girls would have been just as happy with a Texas Sheetcake, no pyrotechnics, and plain old vanilla ice cream . . . OK . . . maybe on a cute plate with a fun spoon for them to take home as a memento.  Simple will most likely never be part of my vocabulary. ☺

This is the third year we have done Grandma Camp, and I’m so happy the girls look forward to it, plan for it, and count the sleeps until we get to do it again!  I’m giving myself a break for a couple months before I start thinking about Grandma Camp 2022, but grateful for the happy memories, and the light we share when we are together!
