Last Outing Of The Summer
/The day before school started, we had one last outing to celebrate the end of summer. We have a kind and generous neighbor who is a volunteer at Utah’s Hogle Zoo.
He offered to have our entire collection of grandkids come and feed the giraffes! We had the funnest day any of us remember having at the zoo. Not only did we feed the giraffes, but he took us on a walking tour of the entire zoo explaining the different animals and things along the way. I learned more from this zoo outing than any other time I can remember, and I’ve been going to the zoo ever since I was little. I learned giraffe’s heads weigh 250 pounds, their tongues are an inch long for every foot they are in height, and they have 7 large bones and 52 muscles in their neck alone!
What a blessing it is to live in such a beautiful place with unlimited opportunities to experience so many of God’s creations! We ate ice cream part way through, and finished with lunch. This day was filled with LIGHT as we learned and experienced the zoo together as a family. Thank you Mike for the best zoo visit ever! Be sure to look for ways to experience the things and places in your own community, and you will find each one is filled with a LIGHT of its own!
Love Ya, Les :)
