High School Dance Flowers and Life

How is my oldest granddaughter a senior in high school already?!!!  One of my favorite things is when she calls to ask if I will help her make her dance flowers.  Tonight, we had a fun time together as she created this cute boutonniere for her date.

She prefers using faux flowers and sends me pictures of what she wants it to look like.  Her dress is red, and she wanted mini carnations and baby’s breath.

I try to find the exact things she sends me, and this one came pretty close.

In addition to picking up the supplies for her boutonniere today in Salt Lake City, I also stopped at my favorite cookie shop – “Ruby Snap” and bought a little treat to have for her when she came.

I should have taken a picture before we enjoyed them, but these two are what was left.  Yes!  They were delicious!

As much as I have always loved crafting with her, I enjoy the conversations we have even more.

Tonight we talked about Jesus, and scriptures she loves that have brought her peace and comfort this past week.

We also talked about her HXP Humanitarian trip to the Philippines, where she spent 3 weeks this past summer helping to build a school for elementary age kids.

This trip changed her life as she fell in love with those kids, and the wonderful people she met.  These are people who live in poverty yet still find joy and happiness in spite of life’s trials and struggles.  The main reason they are able to do this?  They love and believe in Jesus!  One of the blessings of social media, is the ability to stay in contact with people we’ve been blessed to meet who live all around the world.

Tonight, my granddaughter sent this to all her Philippine and HXP friends.

Mahal kita (Tagalog)

“I love you” is sweet, but mahal kita says so much more.

Mahal kita is a Filipino expression that means “I love you,” but it also holds a deeper meaning.

Mahal literally translates to “expensive,” but in the context of love, it means “precious” or “priceless.”

To call someone “mahal” is to say they’re valuable beyond measure.  And for you, that couldn’t be truer.

You’re the most precious thing in my life.

And your love? Priceless.

I love the young woman she is becoming!  I love how she cares about others, and how Jesus is the focal point in her life!  So many of the youth today are strong Christian warriors for truth and righteousness!  Their only goal and desire is to treat others with love and respect no matter what color their skin is, what religion they are, or what they believe in.

My wish for you this week is to turn off your phone, study and seek out the things that bring you comfort and peace.  At the center of that, I hope you find Jesus as well!  Anywhere Jesus is, there is always LIGHT!  We could all use a little more Light in our lives at the moment.  Also, it never hurts to have a dozen of your favorite cookies on hand to share with a friend or family member as you relax and discuss the many blessings we enjoy.  Have a great week!

 Love Ya, Les  😊
