Valentine’s Day All Year Long

One last post for Valentine’s Day. Let’s set a goal to celebrate Valentine’s Day all year long! By that I mean let’s focus on showing those we love how much they mean to us every day of the year. We may not realize what a tiny gesture of love could mean to someone who may be hanging by a thread. So if possible, act on ANY good thought that comes to your mind. Don’t wait, don’t push those thoughts aside and say I’ll do it later. . . do it now, as soon as you can! THIS is how we share our LIGHT.

It can be paying for the little widow grandma behind you in the grocery line who is purchasing a tiny bowl of cut-up watermelon, and a couple pieces of fried chicken for the Valentine dinner she will be spending alone this year. It can be as grand as pulling out all the stops and planning a grand vacation for the love of your life. But more often than not, it can be as simple as making that phone call instead of sending a text to see how someone is doing. It can be commenting on how beautiful someone’s eyes are.

It can be holding the door open for someone. It can be leaving a note that says I Love You, and hope you have a great day on a ripped piece of paper and taping it to your kid’s steering wheel. It can be saying thank you, or just giving a genuine smile!

Whatever positive ideas come to your mind, jot them down, and then follow through on those LIGHT-filled thoughts!

This year my goal was to complete the Valentine’s decorations I’ve had sitting downstairs in my “holiday room” for the past few years. I have more of those projects than I care to admit.

I loved the wreaths I put up on my windows at Christmas so much, that I began gathering heart wreaths to do the same for Valentine’s Day. I started working on them a few years ago, and then Covid hit. It felt like the world came to a grinding halt overnight and it was Groundhog Day every day . . . for two years!!!! This year, I am trying to get out of that rut. I needed some LIGHT back in my life!

So I pulled all the bins out a few weeks ago when Ron was out of town. I made a HUGE mess, which almost always happens in order to put it all back together and make it a thing of beauty!

Some of the wreaths were ready to go, they just needed ribbon to hang them from.

Some I had to make from scratch, including bending and making the heart shaped form to attach the flora, fauna, berries, and heart ornaments to. But I got it done!!!

And I have been enjoying it – Every. Single. Day! It brings a smile to my face, and LIGHT into my heart! I started putting Valentine’s up as soon as I got Christmas taken down.

And it will stay up, until March 1 st . And then I will put a few things up for St. Patrick’s Day – and my own celebration of GREEN!!!! Decorating and sprucing up our daily surroundings improves our mood, and creates LIGHT within our soul.

So this week, I’m sharing the completion of my Valentine’s Project that I never thought I would finish. I hope it brings LIGHT into your heart, and gives you some ideas to go out and share your own LIGHT with others! Have a great week!

Love Ya, Les ☺
