The Light Of My Life
/40 years ago, I was blessed to marry the love and LIGHT of my life! If you ever wonder if your plans are better than those of a loving Heavenly Father, never doubt what He has in mind for you is much better than anything you could come up with on your own! Just like Garth Brooks said in one of my favorite Garth songs, “One of God’s greatest gifts, is unanswered prayers.”
Ronnie has put up with me, and given me wings to fly for the past 40 years. He is one in a million, and has the patience of Job! He helps and supports me in all my crazy projects, that I dream up each night when I can’t fall asleep until the early hours of morning. I don’t know of any men who do the things for their wives that Ron does for me. If I need something from the store, he is more than happy to run and pick it up . . . even if it’s at Hobby Lobby, or JoAnn’s! He is also more than happy to drop things off that need to be delivered. In fact, I think he loves that more than anything because he loves to visit people! He truly means it when he says, “Whatever makes you happy makes me happy.” I wish I could be more like that. I’m working on it though. We both love to serve and share the things we have been blessed with. I think this is one of the things I love most about him, and is one of the greatest strengths in our marriage.
With all this said, you might think married life for us has been a piece of cake. Just like anything worth achieving, our marriage has been a joint choice in working hard toward a common goal. That includes climbing under, over, and through the rocky times, as well as enjoying the smooth times together. We couldn’t be more opposite, but thankfully opposites attract!
We do things totally different from one another, but we respect each other and the different ways we get to the end result. Ron is by far much better at it than I am, but is a kind and patient teacher. I have learned a lot from him, and strive to be more like him each day. There have been times when we needed to seek counseling to help us get back on track. This has not been easy, but oh so worth it, and a blessing to be taught such important life skills which enable us to traverse the rocky ridges in life together.
I feel safe, protected, loved, and cared for by this wonderfully spiritual man. Who would have thought we would be better together than we ever would apart? I’m so grateful for Ronnie and the blessing he is in my life! He truly is an answer to my prayers each and every day! Happy 40th Ronnie!!! I LOVE living life and sharing LIGHT with you!!!
As we are less than a week away from Christmas, may we all find someone to be grateful for and share our LIGHT with, not only for the rest of 2023, but each and every day. Hold those you love close, and never let go of what you have. They are a gift from God!
Love Ya, Les :)
