Cleanliness Is Next To Godliness
/Do you ever have one of those days where you just feel off? That was my day yesterday. It wasn’t that I didn’t feel well, I just suddenly felt overwhelmed with everything on my to-do list. Lately it’s felt like no matter how many hours I work to cross those things off, the list keeps getting longer.
I’ve needed to have my carpets and tile cleaned for a few years now! The thought of having to move ALL the furniture, and then do a deep clean before I had ZeroRez come to do the really deep clean put my anxiety over the top. However, we had to move most of the furniture for Grandma Camp, and after we took the tents down, I decided this was the perfect time to get this dreaded task done! The only problem is that we had planned to go to Lake Powell the day after Grandma Camp, so the floors had to wait another week, but at least we weren’t here to have to live with no furniture to sit on.
It’s all been smashed into one little room patiently waiting to go back to its normal spots. Last Tuesday they came and cleaned the carpets. I forced myself to wait a couple days to move any of that furniture back into place to be absolutely sure the carpet was thoroughly dry. We’ve at least had the family room back together this past week, and that’s been nice.
Tomorrow they are coming to do the tile. When I deep clean my tile, I get down on the floor with a toothbrush, a non-scratch scrubby pad, and a bucket filled with Pine-Sol water. We all have our favorite cleaning products, and I have always loved the clean smell of Pine-Sol on a Saturday morning! :)
I’ve spent the past week cleaning all the tile in the house on my hands and knees with my specified floor cleaning toothbrush. The tile floors are squeaky clean now, so basically, ZeroRez will be making the grout look like new again, and then sealing it afterward to help keep it looking new longer. I have to admit, it does feel good to have the floors clean enough to eat off of! I have washed every single throw rug in the house – 18 of them! Yikes! They are all clean, dry, rolled up and ready to lay back down as soon as the tile is ready for them.
I love the feel of a clean home, but with all the crazy things I’ve had going on over the past year it’s been difficult to stay on top of things. A few weeks ago, I decided I don’t like how I feel when my house is not as clean as I prefer it to be. So it was time to wage war on our home!
I am going to do a little at a time, as often as I can until I have de-junked, de-cluttered, and deep cleaned it from top to bottom. It’s been a rough past couple of weeks as we’ve been displaced inside our own home with all the floor cleaning, but I can see a light at the end of the tunnel, and the beginning of cleaner, better and calmer days to come.
Cleanliness truly is next to Godliness, and nothing feels better than walking on a freshly cleaned floor with your bare feet! Ron and I have made a concerted effort to take our shoes off as soon as we walk in the door, just like we did when our home was new 16 years ago. We’re also not eating anything in the family room again as well. All food stays in the kitchen, my Diet Coke in my Stanley mug still goes with me wherever I am in the house though.
We’ll be reinforcing the no shoes in the house rule, no food on the carpet rule, using the kitchen table every time the kids are over, and trying to stay on top of things better. Having a clean home helps bring LIGHT into our lives and our home. I hope everyone who comes will feel peace, calm, comfort and LIGHT. I know Ron and I will for sure! I can’t wait to get things put back together, so I can start on de-junking the basement!
So if you wake up in the morning and you’re in a bad mood, try scrubbing your tile with a toothbrush! Your floor will thank you, and your home will be filled with cleanly LIGHT!
Love Ya, Les :)
