End of Summer Festivities
/There’s nothing better than a BLT using sun-warmed tomatoes and ice-cold lettuce from the garden. Sadly, in the last couple of years we haven’t planted a garden. I hope we can do better with that next summer.
Over the weekend we got together with our longtime friends for dinner, and they shared some vine ripened tomatoes and cucumbers from their beautiful garden.
We are blessed to be surrounded by incredible family, friends, and neighbors. Our kids and grandkids came on Sunday for our monthly family dinner. Each family brings something to add to the menu.
After eating dinner outside on the lawn, we set up “Nine-Square,” a new game that even the littles can participate in. (https://castlesports.com/products/9-square-castlesquares) The excitement for the first day of school was palpable as they all left a little earlier than normal to get home for the final preparations.
The days are getting shorter, the end of summer fruits and vegetables are at their peak at the local fruit stands, and soon it will be time to move our monthly family festivities back inside as the weather begins to turn cooler. Until then, I plan to soak up every bit of summer while sitting outside and enjoying the flowers, hummingbirds, and Ronnie’s flagstone patio and walkway around the shed and back flower planter.
He’s almost done with that! Just a few more rocks to level and then it will be time to brush in the sandy, cement grout, spray it with water to harden and set the rocks in place, and this long summer project will be complete!
We’ve had fun working on this together.
This post is short and sweet. But the thought is one of gratitude. My wish for you this week is to look for ways to enjoy the last warm days of summer with those you love. Have a great week!
Love Ya, Les 😊
