Tomatoes And So Much More

Every year for well over a decade a sweet couple in our neighborhood grows tomatoes to feed the masses!

The most amazing part, is they give them away free of charge!  The Garrison’s are two of the kindest people you will ever meet.

Each year Ron Garrison calls my Ronnie and asks how many tomatoes we need.  I have canned tomatoes almost every year for well over 50 years now, and the Garrison’s tomatoes are far superior to any others I’ve ever bottled.

The cost to purchase the amount of tomatoes I like to can each year would be prohibitive.

But since I prefer home canned tomatoes over the ones you can buy in the store, we are beyond grateful for this generous gift.

The Garrison’s tomatoes are always cream of the crop, and made for canning!  The time and effort they devote into this labor of love is unbelievable.

This year we were blessed with enough tomatoes to fill 52 quarts!  We will be enjoying home-made spaghetti sauce, lasagna, and soup for the next year all thanks to the Garrison’s!  It almost felt like the boxes in the garage kept filling up each time I went out to start another batch.

The Garrison’s are LIGHT givers, as they share their yearly harvest with so many.  May they receive the richest blessings Heaven has to offer!

The challenge for this week is to look for an opportunity to serve and be a LIGHT giver in your own special way.  Serving others is a win-win situation and both parties receive blessings of LIGHT, hope, and joy.  If you’ve never bottled/canned tomatoes look up the recipe on the Utah State Extension Services website and enjoy the satisfaction of cooking a home cooked meal with home-grown tomatoes . . . ‘tis the season for canning!

Have a great week, and enjoy these last days of summer as we enter into the cooler crispy days of autumn.

Love Ya, Les :)
