Paper and Felt Midway

One of my favorite decorations to make for all the different holidays are these quick and easy felt ball garlands.

Meredith and her cute mom Nancy have been doing craft shows for many years here in Utah - including Swiss Days, The Holiday Market at This Is The Place Historical Park, Utah Art Market, and many others.  They recently opened a shop in Midway Utah, located at Midway Town Hall - 120 West Main Street Suite 120 A - Midway, UT - 435-671-9208.  They are open Monday – Saturday 11am-6pm.  Midway is a quaint little town filled with personality, adorable shops, restaurants, and quaint little place to stay just an hour from Salt Lake City.  You can even swim or scuba dive in a volcano crater fed by natural warm springs year-round!

Meredith and her mom both radiate LIGHT and love as they share their many talents with the world.  Their high quality wool felt items are made by women in Nepal in Fair Trade businesses.

Buying these items helps these women feed and support their families.  I LOVE supporting women owned businesses who are supporting other women around the world to enjoy a better life!  It’s the old saying - “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

You can purchase these wool garlands in pre-packaged kits that include the baker’s twine and a needle, in addition to a generous amount of wool felt balls and other cute shapes.

I love to lay them out on the floor and try many different combinations to create easy, fun, and happy garlands for our home.  And did I mention these pre-packaged kits make great gifts for your crafty friends?!!!

They are also fun to do at a girl’s night out at someone’s home, as a quick and easy craft you can easily finish in less than an hour.

Garlands are not the only thing you can make with these.  I like to add a vertical strand to my ribbon bundles.

I’ve also done vertical Christmas ornaments and tied them on gifts with my ribbon sprigs and a cute handmade tag.

Storing the garlands in clear plastic boxes made for scrapbook paper, protects the garlands from being crushed, and keeps the dust off them.

These boxes are made to stack on top of each other, optimizing storage space.  And because they are clear, you can see what is in the box without having to open it.

If you’re looking for a quick craft to bring some LIGHT to these cloudy drizzly days, take a drive up to Midway and visit Meredith and her mom, Nancy.  Then walk across the street and eat in a snow globe at The Pizzeria – YUM!  You could even turn it into a weekend getaway, and stay at one of the many warm and cozy places in Midway, Utah.  There are many to choose from.

Have a great week, and bring some LIGHT into your life with a fun and easy craft.

Love Ya, Les :)
