Welcome Spring!

You might remember the post I did about the Christmas decorations I arranged in our front planter bed.  We enjoyed them so much; I decided to give them a little springtime upgrade.

I kept the lashed tree branch structure as the base and added some gold hearts from “Knot + Spool” in Holladay, Utah, to replace the green and red Christmas cowbells.   https://www.knotandspool.com  After a visit to “J&J Nursery and Garden Center” in Layton, I added some outdoor safe greenery and dahlias along with some fun new metal flowers. https://jjgardencenter.com The greenery is plastic, and believe it or not, the dahlias are rubber!! 😊 I wanted to cover the dirt and found some faux boxwood mats on sale at “Hobby Lobby.”  https://www.hobbylobby.com  I only needed two of these because they were big!

I wrapped the tree branch structure and the outer edge of the whiskey barrels with two different types of faux plastic garlands from “J&J Nursery.”  The finishing touch were the two bunnies made from willow over a metal frame.  Someday, I want to learn how to master this artform!  I think I’m going to change out the ribbons around their necks to something a little more spring-y, but for now they look just fine.  I almost forgot, I also added two tiny faux bird’s nests with eggs in them nestled into the greenery.  The bunnies and bird’s nests came from “J&J Nursery”

The weather in Utah can be extremely unpredictable.  The day I put this together it was 70 degrees!  But the following day, it dropped into the mid 30’s with rain, sleet, and snow.

This makes outdoor decorating a bit of a challenge, but if you look for faux greenery and florals made from plastic, rubber, or natural sticks you can come up with a design that is lovely and long lasting.  I put the “grand-mini” twinkle lights from “Modern Display” in Murray, Utah back into the greenery, and have enjoyed driving in at night to see it all lit up.   https://moderndisplay.com

I also changed out the wreaths I put at the base of my “heart sticks” on my front porch from my winter pine and cedar ones, to eucalyptus and pretty pink tulip wreaths.

If you’re looking for a way to brighten your mood with the dreary days of lingering winter, choose a spot to bring color, LIGHT, and the promise of spring into your life.  A new display on your front porch in addition to some spring pops of décor inside your home will do wonders to add LIGHT, and hope of warmer sunny days to come.

I love this time of year watching the trees start to show new life again, the daffodils, peonies, and bleeding hearts sending shoots through the mud, and the promise of spring to come.  Look for ways to brighten your day, as well as others.  A cute weather resistant spring time arrangement, anonymously left on someone’s front porch, just might be exactly what they need to brighten their day. And don’t forget, “spring always follows winter.”

Have a great week!  Love Ya, Les 😊
