I Love Green Rock Moments!

From the time I can remember, I’ve had a love for rocks!  As a little girl I collected them everywhere I went, and many times brought them home, painted them, and gave them away as gifts.  I’m sure the recipients were so thrilled . . . ☺  Rocks have always made me happy!

As I’ve grown older, my affection for rocks has not changed.  Ron is often found helping me with yet another one of my “rock projects”.  Last week he said, “We sure do have a lot of rocks around here!”  He’s such a good sport to put up with all my crafting projects!  I no longer paint rocks and give them as gifts. . . but I do still collect them, and sometimes give them as gifts – especially the ones of the green color variety!

A few years ago I tagged along on one of Ron’s work trips to Southern Utah.  There’s a little stretch of road on the Scenic-ByWay near Orderville, Utah with rock shops on both sides of the road!  As we drove by, I saw some beautiful green rocks that made my heart skip a beat!!!  Sadly, the shops were closed and we were not able to stop and look.  But the memory of those green rocks stayed with me.

Happily, Ron travels these roads often in his work and one of his next trips, he came home with not just one, but TWO of those lovely GREEN rocks for me!!!!  He has added two more to my collection and I now have four!!!  Each one is totally different with its own personality and characteristics, just like people!  We learned they are Emerald Calcite, and funny enough, did not come from Utah!  Emerald Calcite is a particularly bright green variety of calcite.

I’m not particularly into the healing properties associated with rocks, however I do love what Emerald Calcite is known for among the chakra lovers of the world.  What is a chakra you ask?  Well to be honest, I had to look it up as well.  I found the following on WebMD:

“Some spiritual views hold that our body is more than just physical and mental, it’s also an energetic system called chakras.  Chakra is a Sanskrit (the ancient Indo-European language of India and of Hinduism) word that means wheel or cycle.  There are seven main chakras situated along the spine, from the base of your spine to the crown of your head.  This age-old belief has become integrated into many New Age styles of thought.

Chakras are thought to provide subtle energy that helps your organs, mind, and intellect work at their best level.  Chakras and spiritual energy have not been thoroughly examined in medical studies, but they may help you think about your own mind and body like any religion or belief.

The heart chakra – Anahata is connected to organs such as the heart and lungs.  Its color is green.  The heart chakra is considered a link to compassion, trust, passion, and love for self and others.”

Emerald Calcite is a very deep healing Heart Chakra stone.  Green calcite aligns with the heart and upper heart chakras.  It balances on every level, and supports the immune system, strengthening the body’s ability to fight infection and heal.  It has a gentle mood lifting effect.  Its properties include:

·       Clears old, stagnant and blocked energy, allowing you to find love both for yourself and others.

·       Helps you to break old relationship habits and patterns that no longer work in your best interest.

·       Allows you to surrender or to let go of love issues which have stopped you from finding your true love or soul mate.

·       Shows your heart the way to happy and healthy relationships.

·       Removes toxins from the body.

·       Alleviates mental fear.

·       Aids mental clarity.

·       Soothes anxiety.

·       Helps the kidneys, spleen and pancreas.

·       Calms turbulent energies.

Calcite is a powerful energy amplifier and cleanser.  Simply having a piece in a room can clear negative energies and heighten your energy.”

I don’t believe in graven images.  I’m also not convinced that a rock can heal all the things this description talks about, however, I don’t question those who do.  Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions, and I respect that.  This is waaaaaay more information than I had planned to include, but I do love the positive message it invokes!!! ☺  Maybe I should put one of these rocks in every room of our house - I love peace, calming influences, and I could use more energy! ☺

This past weekend was the semi-annual “General Conference” of our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  This is a two day event where our church leaders fill our buckets with uplifting talks and motivation.  For me it is two days’ worth of LIGHT infusion to my soul, and I very much look forward to them!  My favorite thing is to sit in my jammies, snuggled in a blanket with my heating pad on my feet, taking notes.

As I sat and listened, one of the speakers talked about building on the sure foundation of Jesus and standing firm.  As I heard these words, my green rocks immediately came to mind.  For me they are symbolic of the Sure Foundation we hold fast to - The Only Sure Rock - Our Savior!!!  We must all build on the sure foundation of His Gospel, and stand firm as we walk the covenant path back to Him.  As we walk the covenant path, we are in “AWE” of Jesus and his Gospel!!!  And we are happier because of that!!!  When we are happy, we are filled with LIGHT!

Our Prophet, Russell M. Nelson shared how “Momentum is a powerful concept!” And how “we have never needed Positive Spiritual Momentum more than now!!!”

He also asked this question – “What can ignite Spiritual Momentum?”  Then gave us these five suggestions to accomplish Spiritual Momentum in our lives.

1.     Get on the covenant path and stay there.

2.     Discover the joy of daily repentance.

3.     Learn about God, and how He works.

4.     Seek and expect miracles.

5.     End conflict in your personal life.

As I’ve mentioned before, it doesn’t matter to me what religion you are. I love Abraham Lincoln’s quote to answer this, “Whatever you are, be a good one.”  Today more than ever we can bring LIGHT into our lives and the lives of those around us, by building a firm foundation, walking the covenant path, repenting of the things we do wrong, focusing more on God and not the worldly things surrounding us, seeking and expecting miracles in our lives, and looking for ways to end conflict in our lives.

If this seems overwhelming, then just choose one or two and work on those.  Then add more as you feel you are able.  Place something in your home as a daily reminder of the things you are working on, it could even be a GREEN Emerald Calcite rock!!!  But if you can’t find one, any old rock will do, you could even paint it!

As we do these things, we will find that we will have MORE “Heart-Beat-Skipping-Green-Stone-Moments” in our lives, and those moments bring life giving LIGHT!!!

Love Ya, Les ☺
