Palm Sunday Event

I’ve posted a couple teasers from our Palm Sunday Event that I have been working on for the past six weeks.  So much to do in an extremely short amount of time.  The miracles that have taken place are too numerous to count.  From free materials that were destined for disposal to people available and calling to offer their time and talents to create the sets that were only envisioned in my mind.  This event exceeded my greatest expectations and was open to everyone no matter their religious affiliation.  In the end, there were over 1,200 people who came and experienced the vignettes we put together to commemorate Holy Week beginning with Palm Sunday.

I have been creating more floral and greenery arrangements than I can count including six trees made from scratch.

Our home looked like a botanical garden, with arrangements, wreaths and two large floral chandeliers consuming every available surface.

I couldn’t have pulled this off without the love and support of numerous people!  You all know who you are!  I can’t thank all of you enough, especially Ronnie who never complains and jumps in to help me with anything I need.  He is a gem!

The amount of time freely offered is still humbling to me as I sit and write this now.  As I mentioned before, we have been encouraged by our church leaders to celebrate Easter as more of a season than just one day, much like we do Christmas.

I will let the pictures that were taken tell the story that will lead you through the scenes of the last week of the Savior’s life here on earth.  No matter your Christian affiliation, we all worship and believe in the same God, and honor His Son and our Savior Jesus Christ.

The theme of this event was “Walk With Me.”  An event to experience and worship the last week of our Savior’s life through art and music as we celebrate our Lord’s Resurrection. The walk began with the Triumphal Entry through the archway of the city.  Then it wound its way through different rooms in the building which depicted the following events of His last week prior to the crucifixion.

We did not have anyone dress up as Jesus, His presence was inferred. However, there were 37 actors dressed in period clothing that I made prior to this event, who portrayed the people in the last week of His life.

The thing I noticed was how quiet everyone was as they filed down the hallways and through the rooms, often with tears dripping from their faces.

At the end of the vignettes for each of the two sessions, there was standing room only in the chapel, with many sitting on the floor as a choir of 40 people filed in carrying tiny candle lights as they sang, ending up on the stand in the choir seats for a short choir program.  Our Stake President concluded the experience with a short spiritual message.  Each family received a take home gift to help them study and learn more about each of the days of Holy Week.

This was so much work, and looking at the pictures, I honestly don’t know how we were able to pull it all off in such a short amount of time.  I must admit I am exhausted, but I will continue to wear myself out in the service of the Lord!  I have a firm testimony that God lives!  I Love Him!  I know He lives!  I know that He lived and died for us, that we may live with Him again through the eternities.  God loves all of His children, and wants us to be happy.  By following His commandments, serving others, and enduring to the end, we can indeed be happy!  He is the LIGHT of the world, and the LIGHT of my life!  It has been a privilege to help design and recreate actual scenes from His life as we honor and revere the ultimate sacrifice He made in our behalf.

He not only took on our sins, but also the ability for us to overcome death, afflictions, pains, infirmities, weaknesses and imperfections.  Because of this, nothing can prevent us from achieving exaltation, provided we keep God’s commandments.  With that knowledge, we can press forward with good cheer and absolute assurance that God is with us in our heavenly journey back home to Him.

My wish for you this week is to dive into a personal study of Holy Week.  Each day focus on one day of this sacred week.  May you feel of His spirit, His love, and may it fill your soul with LIGHT!  There is much to be grateful and thankful for!

Love Ya, Les 😊
