Last Dance Flowers

Does it seem like time has reached lightning speed?  I feel like it was just yesterday when this cute girl was born.  And yet, it’s been three years since she called and asked if I would help her make her boutonniere for her first high school dance!  We practiced pinning it on Grandpa Ronnie back then.  I actually wrote a post about that one too.

I’m pretty sure I shed some tears then as I couldn’t believe she had grown up so fast!  But this time, the tears were a little more real.  The last time I’ll get to make dance flowers with her!

We don’t use pins anymore; we discovered boutonniere magnets that make things a lot less awkward!  I like the “Boutstix” brand.  The next time will most likely be for her wedding… hoping that’s still a few years away.

I’m so grateful my grandkids call and ask if they can come over!

They come to craft, they come to flower, they come to hang out, they come to help us in the yard, they come to help me clean the house, they come to help me organize, they come to watch movies, they come to stay up late (I can still stay up later than any of them 😊).  We all pretty much have the same taste in movies and that makes it even more enjoyable!  Grandkids are the payback for all the hard years of raising your own kids!  I heard a quote a while back that made me smile. “The reason you get along so well with your grandkids is because you have a common enemy.” 😊  Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids.  And I’m grateful for the grandkids they have blessed us with!  Our grandkids fill my life and soul with LIGHT!!!  I can’t think of a more perfect day than spending it with them as we craft and learn and play together.  My life is blessed and I’m so grateful!

The next few weeks may be a bit sparse with posts from Candle in the Window.  My cute girl, Hadlee, who does all my techy posting for me on Instagram and my website, just welcomed her first little one and will be taking some time off to recover and settle into motherhood.  Please don’t think we are going anywhere; we’ll just be taking a little break.  I’ll have lots to catch you up on when we’re back.  Grandma Camp prep is in full swing and I’m excited for some new activities and crafts this year!

My wish for you this week and for the next few weeks is to take time to slow down and enjoy your kids and grandkids.  Look for opportunities to do meaningful things together.  I know life is crazy busy, but it’s important to do more than just survive.  Live life, have fun, stop what you’re doing and go play catch, plan a craft, go to McDonald’s for fries and a drink, have a secret life in Salt Lake day, or any other activity that brings you closer to those you love.  Time flies by too quickly!

Sure Do Love You, Les 😊
