Skin-Care Musts!!
/Today’s post is short and sweet. I know it’s September, but here in Utah it’s still hot and sunny with many record breaking 100+ degree days!!!
Now that I’m closer to 60 than 59, and having been a sun-worshipper for many of those years, I am paying the price. I’ve had numerous basal cell, squamous cell, and melanoma skin cancers. Being fair skinned, with blonde hair and blue eyes puts me at an even higher risk. I remember the days when we compared how tan we were with our friends and family. These days I tell my kids, no matter how hard you try, you’ll never be as white as I am! I’m pretty careful with my sun exposure, not because I want to be, but because I’m tired of having to get things cut out.
I visit my dermatologist every six months without fail. My last visit was the best one I’ve had in years! I didn’t need to have anything cut out, and she only had to freeze 15 spots this time. I know, 15 still sounds like a lot, but it’s been close to 50 at other times!
So today’s post is a reminder of the year-round importance to use sunscreen-yep even in the winter time, AND on cloudy days as well!!! According to the many skin-care specialists I’ve been to, mineral based sunscreens are the best. I’m sharing two of my favorites, which you can order online. Both are also water resistant.
I use this one under my make-up every day. It doesn’t feel sticky, doesn’t have a scent to it, I love the slight tint, it has a soft silky texture, and one tube lasts me for months!
“Alastin Skincare - Hydratint Pro Mineral Sunscreen - Broad Spectrum SPF 36”.
The second one is a powder that I use on my feet, ankles, legs, hands, arms, neck, face, and the part in my hair.
It comes in a few different skin shades, and goes on like a powdered makeup. I love how the powder flows through the attached brush.
“Colore Science Pro - Sunforgettable very water resistant powder sun protection”. It comes in SPF 30 or SPF 50.
Be sure to reapply often, and take care of your skin!!! Getting a good report from your dermatologist brings LIGHT and happiness into your life!!!! It’s always nice to walk out of the doctor’s office with a smile on your face!!!!
Love Ya, Les :)
