All Creatures Great & Small
/Ron and I are extremely particular about what we watch on TV or at the movies. We are always on the lookout for uplifting and wholesome things to watch. There’s nothing like a good movie to bring LIGHT into your evenings! A good friend suggested this series a couple years ago, and now there are four seasons! And yes . . . we are guilty of binge watching all four seasons as soon as they have been released. With season four recently released, we couldn’t help ourselves, we watched the entire series in a week’s time.
All Creatures Great and Small is produced by PBS/Masterpiece and filmed in the Yorkshire Dales, a national park in northern England's Yorkshire County. The series takes place in the fictional village of Darrowby, which in real life in the quaint, historic, market town of Grassington. It makes you want to take a trip to the U.K. to experience the beauty of the English countryside with its lush green hills and hedgerows!
We are great fans of British television, and especially love how this series is clean, engaging, and you experience every emotion. It is well written, and produced as many PBS/Masterpiece series are. This particular series was originally done in the 1970’s, and the remake does not disappoint. There will be at least two more seasons to this charming series, and we can’t wait for season five to come out next year!
“All Creatures Great And Small” is based on James Alfred Wight's series of books that were written under the pen name James Herriot. James was an actual veterinarian in England from 1940 to 1992. This heartwarming and humorous series relives the adventures of James, a young country vet who lives and works in Yorkshire in the late 1930s. The show revolves around a trio of veterinary surgeons, including Siegfried Farnon, who hires James into his veterinary practice at Skeldale House. Besides Siegfried and James, there is Siegfried's younger brother, Tristan, and Mrs. Hall, their housekeeper.
The following from PBS says it all: “James Herriot’s adventures as a veterinarian in the 1930’s Yorkshire Dales get a glorious new adaptation in a TV series based on his internationally celebrated books. Nicholas Ralph makes his television debut as the iconic vet who became renowned for his inspiring humor, compassion for his animal patients, and love of life. With plenty of heart, a picturesque setting, and a cast that utterly charms, the show delivers drama both comforting and entertaining.”
If you’re looking for a fantastic series to binge watch this is a great choice!!! You will be filled with LIGHT and positivity after watching the new updated version of this great series, “All Creatures Great And Small.”
Have a wonderful week, and may you be filled with the Love and Light of the Savior as we also celebrate and worship Him this Holy Week.
Love Ya, and Happy Easter, Leslie :)
