November : A Month Dedicated To Gratitude

Quite often we go straight from Halloween to Christmas, skipping an important and much needed holiday – Thanksgiving.  A time to re-focus our lives on being thankful and showing gratitude for the blessings we enjoy.  I love decorating for Thanksgiving, and feel it deserves just as much attention as our other holidays.

This year, we challenged our church class of young girls, age 8-11 to do one thing each day in the month of November to show gratitude, and then write about it in a “Gratitude Journal”.  As part of this activity, they got to make a fun Gratitude banner/flag not only as a decoration, but as a daily reminder of the “Gratitude Challenge” for November.

I sewed the flags from canvas fabric, ordered a 6” metal quilt hanger from Amazon to hang the flag from, and added a darling felt pumpkin and ribbon sprig to finish it off.  This was a quick and easy craft, for little hands to finish assembling.

As we show gratitude for the people and things in our lives, our LIGHT glows brighter and we are happier.  There is always, always, always something to be grateful for.

Love Ya, Les :)
