Year Round Use Of Sunscreen

After having more than 100 spots frozen or lasered at my recent six month skin check, it’s another reminder to be vigilant with sunscreen!  Sadly I’m paying the price for worshipping the sun in my younger years.

We have a family vacay planned in a few months to Hawaii. As thrilled and excited as I am to go and be with the fam in the warmth and sun, I’m also conscious of the fact that I will need to take and apply sunscreen often, especially when I’m in the water! Then it will need to be reapplied every hour.

I asked my dermatologist what the best ones to use in Hawaii are. She told me about a couple prescription ones, but then said these over the counter ones are just as good.

“Pacifica” for the face.

“Banana Boat Baby” for the body.

Both are mineral based, and especially good for sensitive skin.

She said to look for mineral based ones, as they do not destroy the reef in the ocean, and they are better for us as well.  I’ve been a fan of mineral based sunscreen for over 13 years now. I’ve already shared the ones I use under my makeup on a daily basis. But I will need more protection than normal for this trip.

We’ll be doing a catamaran excursion one day, and the boat does not allow spray-on sunscreen. So I will be using the lotion variety of these for that.

I ordered both of these on Amazon.

In addition to the extra sunscreen, I will also be wearing a cute hat, long sleeve rash guard with a swim bra underneath, and long swim tights - all made with SPF 50 protection fabric. There are some cute choices right now, but you have to order early. They go quickly!!!

After a very long, cold, cloudy winter, I can’t wait to enjoy the LIGHT of the sun, warm sand, and happy kids!!! With the proper advance planning, I’ll be able to do this safely!!!! And you can too!!!

Love Ya, Les 😊💚
