Who are your people?
/Sometimes we are dealt with what may seem like an unfair deck of cards in life. I have come to learn that we can find peace, comfort, love, support and happiness in the midst of these times. Some trials may come in the form of difficult family relationships. As hard as these are, it’s ok to cut the strings of control and conditional love in favor of more healthy relationships. Heavenly Father is always there for us. He surrounds us with a safety net of friends and family to fill the holes of those who have hurt us so deeply that it is no longer healthy to keep them in our lives. These are YOUR people!!! They are there! Seek them out, love them, share your LIGHT with them, and it will come back to you tenfold. He wants us to be happy! Yes, we must forgive. Forgiveness gives us freedom from the adversary. It breaks the chains that bind us down. It brings LIGHT into our heavy hearts. Forgiveness is a blessing! However, that does not mean we are expected to walk back in to a volatile abusive relationship, no matter who it is with.
When life gets hard, we quickly discover who OUR people are. We never know what someone has lived through, and it’s impossible to walk in anyone else’s shoes. Passing judgement on others for things we don’t fully understand is never ok. Imagine how much better life would be if we woke up each day, and prayed to find someone to serve the way the Savior served. No judgement, no conditional love, not expecting anything in return, not seeking aggrandizement, just freely serving and giving of the pure love of Christ!
Some people are like porcupines and difficult to wrap your arms around. Yet there are those angelic people out there who do it anyway, without fear of the scratches and wounds they might sustain in the process. This post is in gratitude for those porcupine huggers who go about serving quietly, lifting those who are downtrodden, sad, lonely and alone. May you be filled with LIGHT, and blessed with all the righteous desires of your hearts.
The past few weeks I have experienced firsthand the LIGHT and love from many people. I want to thank them for the love and support they have so freely given to me. I am grateful for our Savior Jesus Christ, who Atoned for not only our sins, but also our sicknesses and afflictions. Through His LIGHT, all will be made whole in the end. Have a wonderful week, go out and find someone to thank for the blessing they are in your life. It may not always be easy, or convenient, but always worth the time and effort! You never know who may be on the edge ready to throw in the towel. A kind word or expression of love, support and gratitude could be all they need to back away from that cliff.
Love Ya, Les :)
