Keeping London in My Heart
/With the turn of the weather around the corner here in Utah, my heart has been missing the time I was blessed to spend in London. I don’t know about you, but some trips have such vivid memories for me! I think this one will always be at the top of my favorites, and I’ve been pondering the reasons why.
The people I grew to love, will forever hold a piece of my heart. I have never met more kind, supportive, non-judgmental people all in one place seeking a beautifully creative common purpose. That purpose was all about sharing the beauty of flowers with the world! And the lovely people that made up our “Judith Blacklock Floral School” class literally came from all over the world! It’s been fun to keep in touch with our group through “WhatsApp” – a free way to text, call, and facetime on your phone.
I have actually felt homesick for London the past few weeks! I miss the daily walk to school from my dear friend Nadine’s home in Belgravia. I miss Judith’s words of wisdom in our floral classes. I miss the feeling of LIGHT and creativity I felt on that small island across the pond! I miss going to church with people who believe in God with all their heart, might, mind, and strength – no matter what religion they belong to! The miracles that took place for me to be there are too many to count. I know God’s divine hand was in all the details big and small. As I look to the future, and the unknown of what that might be, I have the comfort of bringing a small piece of London home with me in the form of the sweet memories I will never forget!
So until I can go back again, which I hope is sooner than later, I am surrounding myself with daily reminders of London.
On Sunday, Ron and I had a proper outing at the park with our granddaughter Tinley. We came home from church, packed our “hamper” from Fortnum & Mason with sandwiches, chips, grapes, Tinley’s homemade chocolate chip cookies, drinks, and a couple of games and spent the afternoon at the park!
We took our favorite camp chairs, cute fold-up tables from “Natural Life”, and a picnic blanket.
It was a beautiful fall day here in Utah with the golden leaves beginning to fall, and the ducks swimming in the pond.
I’ve also been making myself a cup of herbal mint tea each night as I reminisce about my nightly herbal mint tea visits with Nadine. I found one locally at “World Market” that I really like – “Moroccan Mint – Organic Herbal Teasan, Refreshing Sweet Mint Leaves by NUMI”.
It tastes so much better in my cute tea cup I brought home from my favorite store in London on Piccadilly – “Fortnum & Mason”. They ship worldwide if you are interested in ordering a cup for yourself! :)
The embroidered ornaments I gathered from all the touristy places across London hang in a special place where I can see them numerous times throughout the day.
Many of the movies Ron and I have watched lately have interestingly been filmed in London, and it takes me back to those exact spots each time I see them.
With all the natural disasters, struggle and strife going on in the world, it is STILL possible to carve out calm and peaceful moments to REMEMBER how we felt during special, almost sacred experiences in our lives. I believe these are gifts of LIGHT to help us through the dark times we sometimes face.
So as I finish this post, sipping my cup of herbal mint tea in my “Fortnum & Mason” tea cup, my heart and soul are warmed with the beautiful memories of all the lovely people, and good things I learned and experienced in London. If you are reading this my dear friends, you are in my thoughts and prayers daily, and I hope we meet again soon! May we all seek for opportunities to surround ourselves with people who bring out the best in us, and share our LIGHT with all those we come in contact with each day.
Have a great week! Love Ya, Les :)
