Thanksgiving Turkeys for Hungry Families

This is not my normal post for the week, and I realize this is super short notice, however I received an email from our Stake Relief Society President, who received the following from a couple who are newly-called to assist the Bountiful Food Pantry:

“The Bountiful Food Pantry is in dire need of Turkeys and Thanksgiving related foods.  We have included an attachment showing the shelves of the pantry almost out of food.  The pantry is reaching out to our stake to let us know they need around 150 small frozen turkeys to distribute to those in need by the middle of next week.”

The goal is for our stake to provide 30 SMALL FROZEN TURKEYS (and other Thanksgiving food items in the attached list). Although this is a last-minute request, I feel my heart swelling knowing that we have so many generous and willing hearts and hands!

As I have witnessed your generosity in the past, this scripture comes to mind (Alma 1:30).

“And thus, in their prosperous circumstances, they did not send away any who were naked, or that were hungry, or that were athirst, or that were sick, or that had not been nourished; and they did not set their hearts upon riches; therefore they were liberal to all, both old and young, both bond and free, both male and female, whether out of the church or in the church, having no respect to persons as to those who stood in need.”

For those who are able, please consider making a sacrifice this weekend to pick up a small turkey or some other Thanksgiving items described in the attachment. These items must be delivered Wednesday, November 15th, between 6-8pm at the Bountiful Food Pantry (480 E 150 N, Bountiful, UT 84010). (You could even consider joining with others in your neighborhood to have one person bring down multiple items from your area). There is also a donation link.

Let’s fill the shelves (and in so doing, let’s fill some tummies and hearts and spirits!).

Thank you for your continued love and service of those in need! Are we not all beggars (Mosiah 4:19)?

There's nothing that fills our hearts and souls with LIGHT more than serving others!!!  So my challenge to you is to do whatever you can to help fill the shelves of your local food pantry this week!  If you live within the Bountiful, Utah area, The Bountiful Food Pantry could use your help!  Let's start our Christmas service early, and give what we can to help those in need.

Love Ya, Les :)
