It’s Time To LIGHT The World!!!

For the past few years my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, has promoted a service initiative during the month of December to “Light The World”.  The theme for this year is “Let your light shine this Christmas season as you love the people around you, share joy, and follow the example of Jesus Christ.”

No matter what religion you may be, there are good things about every religion whose focus is our Savior, Jesus Christ!  So if you’re looking for ideas of ways to serve others, not only during the month of December, but each and every day, check out the suggestions on the website.

You can view videos on ways others have served, watch another video of “The Christ Child” a touching portrayal of the Christmas Nativity Story, print off a suggestion list of “50 Ways To Let Your Light Shine” through kind acts of service – many that don’t cost anything, sign up to receive a daily text or email to help remind you to do something that day to “Light the World”, where you can find “Giving Machines”

– a unique type of vending machine that allows you to purchase things like books, meals, and even goats through a unique giving experience, and many other wonderful interactive ideas for ways to serve others as He did during the month of December.

Text “LIGHT” to 71234 to receive one of eight texts, each with a different character role from the Nativity Story, along with ideas for sharing your light.  Play each role by using the suggestions to help you lift others.  When you’re done with one role, text back for another.

I always love this time of year because of the focus on LIGHT!!!  So even if you don’t check out the website from my church, come up with ways of your own to “Light the World” in your own way!  You’ll find that when you share your own LIGHT with others, your life will be filled with even more LIGHT than you had before!

One of my favorite quotes from Roald Dahl, famous author of many children’s books, says this:

“If you have good thoughts they will shine on your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”

So if you want a permanent radiant glow, go out and find someone to serve for the entire month of December!

Love Ya, Les :)
