It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year!
/One of the things I love most about my church is the emphasis on serving others in need. When we serve others we share of our LIGHT, and no matter what religion we belong to, we are all blessed with the LIGHT of Christ inside our souls. The beauty of this gift is the more you share your own LIGHT, the more LIGHT you receive in return.
If you’re looking for ways to serve others this holiday season, check out this website from my church. There’s a variety of suggestions and tips on how to share the LIGHT. You might have seen all the ads for the big red “Giving Machines” popping up all over the world. Search for a location near you, and plan a family or friend outing to participate in this easy way to serve. If you can’t find one near you, donations can be made online as well. All proceeds go directly to the contributing charities that are happy and anxious to be part of this trending program! These vending machines are ones where it makes you smile when you don’t receive anything when you put your money in and push the button. You can choose to purchase a variety of different items for those in need from goats and chickens, to shoes and reading glasses. Easing one other’s burdens emulates what the Savior did while He was on the earth.
On the “Light The World” website you can sign up to receive uplifting texts that come twice a week for the month of December, sign up for emails to get ideas or information for how you can be someone’s angel this Christmas season, stream the beautiful “Christ Child” video of the Nativity, download ideas of things to do – some don’t cost anything at all, or listen to the world renown Tabernacle Choir sing your favorite Christmas songs.

Even if you don’t do any of the things on the website, there’s nothing better to get you into the spirit of Christmas than coming up with ideas of how to serve others. This doesn’t have to end on December 31st, make a goal to continue doing one thing each day for the next year to serve someone. Take time each morning and ask, who can I serve today?
When a name comes to mind, or you think of an idea of something to do for someone, write it down and do it! Service doesn’t have to be hard or expensive, it can be as simple as a smile, a sincere compliment, a hand-written note, a phone call, or an in-person visit.
As we finish out November with Thanksgiving this Thursday here in America, look for ways to show gratitude for the blessings you have received this year, and then pay it forward in whatever way you are able to do. You’ll find your heart filled with LIGHT and JOY as you embrace the opportunity to serve others.
May you be blessed in all the righteous desires of your heart. I am grateful for each of you who take the time to read this post each week. I hope it brings a little bit of LIGHT into your life! :)
Love Ya, Les :)
